Shubhanshu Shukla Indian Super Star Astronaut Creates a History
Shubhanshu Shukla Becomes the first Indian astronaut to visit the ISS (International space station) and second Indian in space after Rakesh Sharma for Soviet mission in year 1984.
In the SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule Grace - Shubhanshu Shukla group captian with three other astronauts landed safely in the Pacific Ocean at around 3pm IST, off the coast of California after 20 day’s in space. India’s position got strengthens in international space exploration and collaboration, because of his successful mission Axiom-4.
Know who is Shubhanshu Shukla
Born – 10 october 1985 in lucknow,Up (Uttar Pradesh, India). He is youngest among his three siblings. Father Shambhu Shukla, a retired government officer, Mother Asha Shukla, a home maker. Shubhanshu completed schooling in Lucknow. A group captain and test pilot with the IAF (Indian air force) and ganganyatri (astronaut) with the ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation). Currently in 2025, he is seving as a mission pilot for Axioam-4 by ISS (International Space Station). In 1999, he appeared for and cleared the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination. Shubhanshu Graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer science from national Defence Academy in 2025 and selected subsequently for flying training at the Indian Air Force Academy.
Shubhanshu in 2019, was got shortlisted for ISRO’s Indian Human Spaceflight Programme by the Institute of Aerospace Medicine. In 2020 With other three candidates, he was selected for astronaut training and was sent to the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Russia. After that he completed a Master of Engineering degree in aerospace Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science and also completed mission-specific training at ISRO’s Astronaut Training Facility in Bangalore. On 27 February 2024, Shubhanshu Shukla was officially introduced as a member of the astronaut team by ISRO for India’s first human spaceflight mission.
